Date of Activity: 1st June, 2026
Venue and Location: New Serkong House, Macloed Ganj
Total Participant: 8
Resource Person: Mindu Tsomo (Intern)

Objective: To provide a clear record of how the non-Tibetan audience interacted with the film and understood the complexities of the Tibet issue.
Activities program update: The film screening took held at the New Serkong House with time frame of one hour and after the film, we had a discussion and experience sharing about the film.

Introduction of the film screened:

The Unwinking Gaze (2008) is a “fly-on-the-wall” documentary that tracks the 14th Dalai lama over a highly volatile twelve-month period leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Because the film completely lacks a formal narrator or structured interviews, it forced the audience to observe raw, unfiltered interactions, diplomatic stagnation, and the intense personal fatigue of a leader navigating the 2008 Lhasa riots from exile.

Methodology:

  • The screening and discussion are in collaboration with V-Tag. The session begins with a brief introduction about the organization, program and documentary film.
  • The documentary film was presented with time frame of one hour.
  • Following the conclusion of the film, participants engaged in a discussion in which they shared their ideas, feelings, and views regarding the documentary film.

Lesson learned or problems faced if any during the implementation of the activity:

I felt nervous and scared the first time I spoke in front of a group of strangers, but things progressively improved. Especially while talking with a foreigner.

Activity Status: Completed
