Activity overview:
As part of this month’s screening and discussion session, ANEC organized a screening of the
documentary Art in Exile. The event was held from 5:40 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a 10-
minute discussion during which participants shared their reflections and insights. The
documentary focused on Tibetan arts in exile.
The film highlights the lives of Tibetans living in exile in India and shows how art plays an
important role in preserving cultural identity and strengthening community bonds. Through
examples of painting, music, poetry, and other creative forms, Art in Exile shows how Tibetan
artists continue to protect and pass on their cultural heritage while living away from homeland.
Objective: The primary objective of screening this documentary was to provide participants
with a deeper understanding of how Tibetan artists in exile preserve their culture, history, and
identity through creative expression. Such preservation and cultural expression constitute a
significant form of nonviolent resistance.

Methodology:
Prior to the screening, the session commenced with a brief introduction of the participants, the
organization, and the documentary. This was followed by a 30-minute screening.
Following the screening, participants engaged in a thoughtful discussion on art as a form of
nonviolent action. Participants were then provided with a feedback form to share their
responses to the session. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all the
participants and the collaborator.

Lessons learned or Problems faced if any during the implementation of the activities.
There was a brief power outage for a few minutes; however, apart from this, the event was
conducted successfully without any disruption to the schedule.
Suggestions for further improvements or corrective actions, if any regarding the activity:
I felt like the venue may be somewhat challenging to find for those visiting for the first time.

Activity status: Completed.
