Activity overview:
ANEC successfully screened the documentary “Inside China: The Battle for Tibet’’ during the
screening and discussion session. The screening began from 5:30 pm to 7pm, followed by one
hour of discussion with the attendee asking questions and sharing insight on the struggles and
current situation in and outside Tibet and core principle of the Tibetan people movement. The
documentary was filmed by a Chinese youth, which took one year to film secretly inside Tibet
and showcased current situation under strict control of the Chinese government. It was
released in UK on 16 th February, 2025. The documentary highlights the current situation inside
Tibet and their struggle.
Objective:
The primary objective of screening this documentary was to raise awareness about the
situation in Tibet, where the Chinese government presents its own narrative rather than the
reality. This very recent documentary provides evidence of the current conditions inside Tibet
and highlights the ongoing struggle for freedom, the dangerous escapes people undertake, and
the challenges they face in preserving their cultural identity.
Methodology:
• The session began with a brief introduction about ANEC and the significance of the
documentary.
• ‘Inside China: The Battle for Tibet’ provided a well visual contemporary struggles of Tibetan
inside Tibet, the escape and refuge in India.
• The documentary included the situation inside Tibet in 2025, self-immolations, interviews
with the political prisoners and the journey of escape from Tibetan refugees, offering personal
and historical perspectives.
• The documentary covers the reality of current situation inside Tibet and struggles the Tibetan
people go through to this day.
• The documentary conveyed both the emotional and cultural struggles faced by Tibetan
refugees.
Lesson Learned/Problems Faced: Distributing poster in Dharamkot is an effective method.
