Outreach Program Reports: ANEC’s Official Meeting with Do Ngak Kunphen Ling in Connecticut, USA

On August 23, 2024, Ms. Tenzin Choezin, Executive Director of the Active Nonviolence Education Center (ANEC), traveled from Chicago, Illinois, to New York. The following day, she proceeded to Connecticut for an official meeting at Do Ngak Kunphen Ling (DNKL). The meeting was attended by Ms. Karen H. Sallick, a key supporter of ANEC and member of DNKL, Venerable Geshe Lobsang Dhargyal, Co-Spiritual Director of DNKL, and Ms. Gloria, President of DNKL.

DNKL hosted a luncheon in honor of Ms. Choezin, during which the work of both ANEC and DNKL was informally introduced and discussed. This was followed by a formal meeting, where Ms. Choezin delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting ANEC’s history, current initiatives, and future goals. She emphasized the potential for collaboration between DNKL and ANEC, particularly in the development of educational programs targeting Tibetan children through ANEC’s North America coordinator based in the United States.

The DNKL representatives introduced their organization and expressed their enthusiasm for future collaborative efforts. To mark the occasion and express gratitude, Ms. Choezin presented traditional Tibetan scarves, along with ANEC’s brochure, magazine, and a commemorative memento to Venerable Geshe Dhargyal, Ms. Sallick, and Ms. Gloria.

Later that evening, Ms. Choezin and Venerable Geshe Dhargyal met with DNKL’s Educational Coordinator, Ms. Yeshi, to discuss the development of tailored educational programs on nonviolence and peace for Tibetan children.

On August 25, 2024, Ms. Choezin had a separate meeting with Ms. Sallick to discuss fundraising opportunities for ANEC. Ms. Sallick requested a short video for an upcoming fundraiser, to be completed.

Following the conclusion of all meetings, Ms. Choezin departed from Connecticut on the evening of August 25, 2024. The meetings not only reaffirmed the long-standing relationship with Ms. Sallick, whose support has been instrumental to ANEC’s sustainability, but also opened the door to new collaborative initiatives with DNKL. These partnerships will not only further ANEC’s mission of promoting peace and nonviolence but also strengthen its global impact.
