Activity Overview

ANEC hosted a screening of the documentary Ocean of Wisdom: Life of Dalai Lama as part of this month’s Screening and Discussion (S&D) program. The event took place from 5:30 PM to 6:20 PM, followed by a 10-minute interactive discussion. Participants shared their reflections on peace, nonviolence, and the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The documentary highlighted the extraordinary journey of His Holiness, emphasizing his spiritual leadership, wisdom, and lifelong dedication to fostering peace and compassion on a global scale.

Objective

The primary objective of screening this documentary was to deepen participants’ understanding of His Holiness’s life, spiritual journey, and contributions to global peace and harmony. The program aimed to inspire attendees by presenting His Holiness’s teachings on compassion, nonviolence, and human kindness.

Methodology

• Introduction: The session began with a brief overview of ANEC’s mission and the significance of Ocean of Wisdom: Life of Dalai Lama.
• Documentary Screening: The documentary provided profound insights into the life and teachings of His Holiness, incorporating:
  • Interviews with His Holiness
  • Rare archival footage
  • Personal accounts of his spiritual journey, challenges, and his role in advocating for global peace.
• Discussion Session: Following the screening, participants engaged in a meaningful discussion, reflecting on:
  • The principles of peace and nonviolence
  • How to apply His Holiness’s teachings in daily life

Lessons Learned / Challenges Encountered:

Venue Issue: The original venue was unavailable at the last minute, necessitating a quick relocation to an alternative site, Indie by Salvation. Despite the disruption, the event proceeded smoothly and on schedule.

Suggestions for Improvement / Corrective Actions:

Establish a contingency plan by identifying backup venues to address potential last-minute challenges with the primary location.

Potential Success Stories:

The screening inspired thoughtful dialogue among attendees regarding peace, compassion, and the importance of spiritual leadership in today’s world. Many participants expressed profound admiration for His Holiness’s unwavering dedication to spreading wisdom and compassion and showed interest in learning more about his teachings and initiatives.
