Program Update

Introduction to the Seeds of Awareness Program

The Seeds of Awareness program, in collaboration with the Manjushri Educational Library, seeks to cultivate emotional, intellectual, and cultural development in children. This session focused on creativity and cultural appreciation through storytelling and art activities inspired by Tibetan nursery rhymes and seasonal themes.

Methodology

  1. Introduction:
    • A brief welcome session introduced the children to the day’s activities.
    • Participants were encouraged to explore emotions and experiences through storytelling and art.
  2. Activities:
    • Storytime: Tibetan nursery rhymes were read aloud, with active child participation through singing and discussions about their favourite rhymes.
    • Creative Art Session: A 30-minute guided coloring activity allowed children to illustrate their interpretations of the four seasons, enhancing creativity, focus, and an appreciation for nature.

Outcomes and Observations

Success Highlights:

  • The children were fully immersed and enthusiastic throughout the session.
  • Artwork created during the session reflected vibrant and imaginative portrayals of seasonal themes.

One participant expressed excitement about sharing the rhymes and coloring ideas with their siblings at home. They also took pride in taking their artwork home, highlighting the program’s positive impact extending beyond the session.
